Frequently Asked Questions

All the answers to your questions about our donations and our association.

Your questions, our answers

We believe trust is built through transparency. Here is everything you need to know.

Is this a genuinely officially recognised association?

Yes. MRE & Generous is a French law 1901 association registered with the prefecture of Val-de-Marne under RNA number W943009823. You can verify this registration on the French Official Journal of associations (journal-officiel.gouv.fr).

How can I be sure my donation is being used properly?

100% of your donation goes directly to beneficiary families in Morocco. MRE & Generous is entirely volunteer-run: zero management fees, zero salaries. We publish the proof of our field actions after each distribution to concretely prove the use of your donations. You can see the families, the sheep, the distributions.

Can I make a donation in someone else's name?

Yes, absolutely. When making your donation, you can indicate in the message field the name of the person on whose behalf you wish to offer the sacrifice. This practice is common and in line with Islamic ethics. The Prophet ﷺ himself sacrificed on behalf of members of his community.

Do I receive a tax receipt for my tax return?

Yes. MRE & Generous is a French law 1901 association recognised as being of general public interest: your donations qualify for a French income tax reduction of 66% of the donated amount (article 200 of the French General Tax Code), within the limit of 20% of your taxable income. To receive your tax receipt (Cerfa form No. 11580), send your request to contact@mreetgenereux.org.

From which countries can I donate?

You can donate from any country in the world. Our donors come mainly from France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Gulf countries. Online payment is accepted anywhere an internet connection is available.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payments by credit card (Visa, Mastercard), PayPal and bank transfer. All online payments are secured by SSL encryption. You can also contribute via our Leetchi solidarity fund. The donation page presents all available options.

What is the cost of a sheep in Morocco?

The cost varies by region and year (between €80 and €150 on average). Several donors can pool together to fund a sheep jointly — this is even an encouraged practice. Every contribution, regardless of amount, is precious and 100% useful.

How are beneficiary families selected?

Beneficiary families are identified by our network of volunteers on the ground in Morocco, among the most destitute families in rural areas and disadvantaged neighbourhoods. The selection is made with care for dignity and discretion. We prioritise families without fixed income, widows, elderly people living alone and large families in precarious situations.

What happens if I donate after the deadline?

If your donation arrives after the collection deadline for the current Eid Al Adha, it will either be carried over to the next campaign or allocated to other humanitarian actions of the association according to your preference. Contact us as soon as possible so we can find the best solution together.

Can I become a volunteer or partner?

Absolutely! We warmly welcome anyone wishing to join our team, whether in France or Morocco. We are looking for volunteers for communications, field logistics, fundraising and much more. Contact us to find out more.
